Firth Rixson Metals - Glossop

Firth Rixson Glossop uses VIM and ESR production methods to supply a wide range of ingots, billets and bar stock to casting and forging customers. We offer cast stick for foundries in a wide range of alloys for single crystal, DS and equiax castings. We also produce forged billets for non-rotating applications such as casings, rings, bearing supports, medical implants and general forgings. Firth Rixson uses  the VIM process to make remelt bar stock for precision-foundry customers, to manufacture electrodes that are subsequently remelted to produce ingots, or that can be converted by customers to billet and bar stock.  The Glossop site supplies a broad spectrum nickel-, cobalt- and iron-based superalloys. Our metals find application in aerospace, defense, nuclear, power generation, oil and gas, medical, petrochemical and other industry segments that use highly engineered castings in critical or technically advanced applications.

  • VIM furnaces up to 9 ton capacity
  • ESR furnaces with multi station melting up to 24" ingots
  • Homogenization furnaces
